I know this question may sound extremely blunt, but honestly, Who are YOU?
What qualities about you make you unique and recognizable to your friends, family, and peers?
If you were to describe yourself to strangers, what qualities and achievements would you be eager to share to give them insight as to who YOU are?
Imagine if you were on a job interview, you’re main objective would be to sell yourself to the employer so they would be more intrigued to hire you over the next person. You would go to lengths to make sure that the employer knows who YOU are. Your goal is to leave a lasting impression on them so they would really consider YOU for the position in particular.
Consider the following questions. How would you express yourself to help others gather a more uniform view of you?
Making Fashion Personal
So it’s now clear that knowing who you truly are helps you achieve so much in life.
So how can we apply the knowledge of ourselves to our fashion?
It’s simple, listen to your personality! Your personality is what makes you so unique! Our personalities make us the spontaneous and outgoing people that we are. It is the primary impression people receive when they first meet you. No two people have the same personality simply because no two people are the same!
Our personalities decide so much in our lives including our taste in fashion!
Think about it. Before you go out and purchase the latest pair of shoes, you ask yourself if it’s really what you would wear? That’s your personality speaking to you. Your personality gives us the assurance and satisfaction and helps you say Yes or No!
Personal style is defined by what you “personally” feel looks good and also what you feel good in. It’s how YOU show your love for fashion.
Fashion is more of an expression. How we decide to express our love and understanding of fashion is totally up to us! It doesn’t require anyone else’s opinions or suggestions. (Unless you’re an employee for a company, and even then you can make your personal style shine through)
How you express your fashion sense is your way of telling the world, “This is ME and this is how I represent ME”. As long as you remember that no one can represent YOU better than YOU, you will have the easiest/most comfortable time showing your personality.
Having a difficult time understanding this whole “Personal Style” thing?
No problem! decifering what best fits you and makes you look the most appealing isnt always easy, at least not on the first go around!
Think of this as taking your first exam in a new course. You felt as if you’ve studied all you could, but you still didn’t make an A! So in order to prepare for the next test, you prepare early by reading chapters twice, set aside an extra hour of studying, and also formed a study group with your classmates.
When the next exam comes around, you ACE it!
This is the same concept! If you realize that you haven’t quite succeeded at forming your own personal style, take some time to study and examine what appeals to you. You may want to start subscribing to magazines, blogs, or even TV shows to get an idea of what’s trending and popular among your favorite stars. Don’t be afraid to ask salesman at your favorite department store for a little extra help when shopping (Trust me, majority of them would enjoy being your stylist for a day. lol)
At the end of the day, no matter how much help you seek to help you, you have to make sure you’re comfortable in it because YOU are the one wearing it.
Without a doubt, we all have certain people we look up to and follow because of their taste in fashion. These people are often found on covers of magazines, red carpets, movies, athletics, and even in our communities.
It’s always nice to have an inspiration from whom you can gather fashion ideas from. It’s also makes it convenient to find out the latest fashion trends. Celebrities have stylist that are constantly on lookout for top fashion trends from around the world in hopes of having their client be the first to wear it in magazines and other forms of public media.
Due to their overwhelming popularity, its a win-win situation for the designers and the celebrity!
Is their someone whom you are constantly researching? Is their a certain celebrity that you admire and try to emulate their fashion?
It can greatly help influence you toward finding fashion trends that fit your personality. An inspiration can be anyone you look up to and admire.
It doesn’t mean that you want to copy their swag and be like them, it just means that you like that fact that they stand out amongst their peers, friends, and other celebrities.
Remember, their is always ways you can make a trend fit into your personal style! No one can do YOU better than YOU!
